TAD 2010-10 Unraveled

Remember this sweater?

It mostly looks like this now:

(Yes, ONE of those balls was Day 7). Alas, I could not salvage the green or blue yarn - they are in spaghetti shreds in my scrap fiber (threads, yarn and fabric) "recycling" bin... for potential projects or recycling when it starts to overflow and i can't stand it anymore.

Note to Self: Do not pick out multi-colored sweaters for yarn unraveling unless 1. the colors appear in large horizontal (and I mean minimum 4" LARGE)  worth-picking apart blocks or 2. you have a lot of time on your hands, you like the feeling of rawness in your fingers from unraveling a whole bunch of knots and you just generally want to waste the shreds of yarn you can't put back together.

Bag Pictures

The part I most dislike about listing products in my shop is the photography part. I get that research paper feeling along the lines of "that was really interesting to read why do I have to write it down now?" So here are two pictures from this morning's "photo shoot" By the way, today is the last day to sign up for the Thing-A-Day swap where you swap a thing you made during the month of February. For more information, check my blog here.

Fused Plastic Kanzashi Flower

This is definitely still a wonky prototype. A kanzashi flower folded out of bits of a fused plastic bag. I followed this tutorial http://spanglystuff.blogspot.com/2006/09/folding-kanzashi-petals.html.
The Thing-A-Day Swap is still open. For the swap you exchange one thing you make during TAD. To join the swap you have to participate in Thing-A-Day. Sign up closes on February 10th at midnight. You can find more information on how to join here.

Thing 6 and Thing 7

Things 6 and 7. I made a pair of little girl purses for the daughters of a friend of mine out of her discarded sweater.

TAD DAY 02

Today has been extremely stressful and is not over yet.  That said, I kept my "thing" for today quite simple - simple enough that I could drink a glass of wine and tend to my two and a half year old's endless requests for juice and trips to the potty (yes, I recognize those two are related) while I TADed.

I love tags, and not the digital ones, paper and cloth ones.  It must be my inner librarian.  That said, I am oddly cheap when it comes to buying tags and labels (as well as socks and wrapping paper.)  I just make my own (except for socks.)

In December 2008, my husband and I picked up a 2009 wall calendar that we loved, but it has run its course.  I kept it up on the wall through most of January and I often found myself confused as to the date.  The calendar is made of a strong and fibrous paper and it is very colorful.  And now, the calendar has been recycled into tags and confetti.
